The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. - Socrates

Greetings yogis,
This newsletter is flying out just as I'm landing in India, God willing of course. No one really knows. And what is there to know? We all get so hung up trying to know something. These days I'd much rather give a big kiwi-eating grin right in the face of uncertainty—not taunting it, but sincerely acknowledging the fact that I know… nothing.
Knowing and certainty only solidify into rigidity. Then, with our flag in the ground and heels dug in, we defend absurd mental constructs our mind dreamt up or bought into. Knowing makes our mind tight, forming endless theories that will undoubtedly get demolished, making us suffer tremendously along the way as we desperately cling to them.
Your conditioned knowingness is your limit. Yoga nudges us to set down our absolutes, stories, and assumptions, and peer into the miraculous nature of this moment. Go beyond your minuscule sense of identity and remember that we're floating through the universe on a blue ball of salt water, soil, and magma. And you thought you were in control—how adorably human of you!
Even in the granular, you think you know exactly what someone else is feeling, what they'll say or do, and what the next day will bring. What if you actually… don't know? Would that help you feel lighter? Often our 'knowing' is creating a small, stagnant reality. If you want to feel expansive, you have to set it down into the greater flow of all things, over and over again, and stop pretending like you're in charge.
The art of living is the art of surrendering. The art of surrendering is knowing that you don't know. Not knowing is liberation, not knowing is the beginner's mind. This mindset gives us the freedom to see each moment with curiosity and ample space in the heart to hold all that arises without any preconceived notions. And if you meet someone who does say they know, I'd recommend a big smile and then keep on walking.
As for me, I'd rather throw my hands up in the air, chuckle out loud, and yell into the breeze, "I have no idea!" Anyways, I'll be here, walking through India with eyes wide open, sending my love and infinite wonder from the motherland.
May you all be free,
Nat K
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
