ITINERARY:
Over the course of the ten days we will explore three different regions rich with history in the southern state of Karnataka, India.

NOVEMBER 3 Bengaluru: Retreat shuttle picks up guests at one of our two recommended hotels in the morning and departs for Nandi Hills.

NOVEMBER 3-6 Nandi Hills: A sacred landscape rising 4,850 feet above sea level, where ancient temples nestle among mist-covered peaks, offering breathtaking sunrise vistas and holy sites steeped in centuries of history.

NOVEMBER 6-10 Coorg: Known as the Scotland of India, this misty hill region enchants with its emerald valleys, spice-scented air, tumbling streams, and the warm hospitality of the Kodava people. We will celebrate a famous Indian tradition called Diwali, The Festival of Lights, at this charming location.

NOVEMBER 10-13 Chikmagalur: The coffee land of Karnataka, where aromatic plantations blanket rolling hills in the Western Ghats, home to Mullayanagiri—the state's highest peak—and temples from the 12th and 13th century Hoysola Dynasty.

NOVEMBER 13 Bengaluru: Retreat shuttle returns guests to a hotel in Bengaluru located ten minutes from the airport. Guests can choose to book and stay there before a flight home or continue on for more travel in India.

THE BIRTHPLACE OF YOGA...
My first trip to India was 24 years ago. I had little awareness of 'yoga' at the time but was completely absorbed in the experience as a long time spiritual seeker. The vibrant, rich culture and mysticism drew me in instantly and my heart felt a deep connection. Since that first trip, I have humbly ventured back many times to walk these sacred paths, barefoot in the temples, soaking in the wisdom of the great teachers and saints that this culture has brought forth to the world.

For this pilgrimage, I will be teaming up with my dear friend and fellow student, Shringar Pangal. She and her family are from Karnataka and her wisdom, kindness and ability to connect with the local culture will make this an unforgettable experience in India. Her graceful and generous spirit will help guide us through the land, culture and great traditions of this region. Seeing India through the eyes of a local is a rare gift. Shringar has patiently helped me craft a truly unique journey through Karnataka.

A LAND OF SEEKERS

What we'll explore:
Throughout our journey in each region, we'll maintain a harmonious rhythm that honors both our practice and the richness of Karnataka. Most mornings begin with yoga as the land awakens, grounding us for the day ahead. We'll then venture out to explore sacred temples, hike through stunning landscapes, bazaars and more. We will conclude most evenings together for meals, chanting and other cultural experiences.
Each region offers its own traditions—whether it's learning about history of the Hoysala dyntasty, coffee cultivation, participating in local ceremonies, or simply sharing stories with the people who call this land home. This balance ensures you'll return home not only with a deeper yoga practice, but with authentic connections and memories from the motherland of yoga.

ATITHI DEVO BHAVA
In India, this term means Guest is God. There is a cultural principle of treating guests with the utmost respect and reverence.
This ancient concept, which originates from the Taittiriya Upanishad, guides the host-guest relationship, emphasizing hospitality, generosity, and treating visitors as if they were divine. When you are in India, you will most certainly feel this generosity!
Both Shringar and myself want to assure that this is the right trip for you, if you have any questions about this journey to make sure it is aligned, please don't hesitate to reach out here and schedule a zoom call.
